Archetypes are
mythological patterns that structure our experience. Embedded in race
memory, they pervade the culture’s founding legends, folk tales and
contemporary narratives. Their motifs appear in our personal dreams and
collective fantasies. The panoply of archetypes includes the Sage, Crone,
Nymph, Great Mother, Hero, Warrior, Muse, Divine Child, Priest or Priestess
and Healer. The archetypes are not beings, but templates. When we engage
respectfully with the images through which they manifest, we enter into
dynamic relationship with the ordering principles of the Collective
Unconscious.
